A digital cutting table equipped with routing tools enables precise cutting, engraving, and shaping of various materials used in signage, packaging, and manufacturing. Rigid substrates like acrylic, aluminum, wood, PVC, foam board, and composites can be cut to shape with exceptional accuracy and repeatability.
Routing tools are powered by high-speed spindles that rotate cutting bits at speeds ranging from 10,000 to 60,000 RPM. These bits come in different shapes and sizes depending on the material and the type of cut required — such as straight cuts, beveled edges, grooves, or intricate contours. An automatic tool changer is also integrated into the system, which allows for automated switching between tools during a single job, improving workflow efficiency and reducing downtime.
One of the key advantages of digital routing is the ability to combine routing with other cutting methods such as knife cutting or creasing. Operators can adjust depths, speeds, and tool pressures based on the material and project needs, minimising waste and enhancing finish quality.
Safety and dust control are also critical in digital routing, with features such as the multiple vacuum zones built into the cutting table to hold materials firmly in place and dust extraction systems to remove debris, ensuring clean operations and prolonged tool life.
Common materials: Acrylic, wood, composite materials, plastics, PVC, foam.
